Brody is here!

Brody Collin Douglas was born at 9:50 AM, weighing in at 7 lbs 15 oz, and is 20 inches long. Jennifer and Brody are doing great! Thank you everyone for your prayers and support!

Update on Brody

Unless Brody decides to come on his own, it does not look like we will be meeting him until Monday, February 28. We had an amniocentesis done today and his levels did not show that his lungs are mature enough to deliver him early. His score was 34. We were informed that the baby can be ready and have a low score but they can't deliver before 39 weeks unless the score is 55 because of the possibility of the baby's lungs not being mature. They did one other test as well that checks for something different with lung maturity but will not get results until tomorrow afternoon. If that test shows that he is ready, then we will have him this week, but they didn't think that test would show him ready when the other did not. However the test turns out, we only have 1 week or less until we will be holding our precious Brody!

Warm Days in February

We have had a very nice week and been able to go to the zoo and the park. It was a little chilly at the zoo, but still very nice for February. The weather at the park was amazing! Here are some pictures from this week.

37 weeks 2 days

We had a sonogram of Brody today. He is still growing great! He looks very healthy (other than the Atrial Septal Defect, which continues to look the same). The actual size of the baby can vary quite a bit from what the sonogram says, but it showed that he weighs 6 pounds, 15 ounces (4 days bigger than his age). We were very happy to get some new pictures of him.


He looks like he is looking up and smiling.

When will we meet Brody?

We found out today that we will not be having an amniocentesis this Thursday. Based on how low his score was last week, my doctor wants to wait until next Monday to do another amnio. If the test shows that his lungs are ready at that time, the c-section will be next Tuesday. If his lungs are not mature, the c-section will be the next Monday. Or he could come on his own before then. We will just wait and see.

Brody needs a little more time

We had the amniocentesis done today, and the results showed that Brody's lungs are not mature. Therefore, he will not be delivered tomorrow. We are disappointed to have to wait longer to meet him, but we don't want him to be here before he is ready. If the results mean anything to you, they said his score was 22 and it has to be 55 to show that the lungs are mature. The nurse said that it usually goes up 3-7 points per day. So hopefully, Brody will be ready in around a week. We will just wait to see. We look forward to meeting him soon!

3 More Days???

It might only be 3 more days until we meet Brody. We will have an amniocentesis on Thursday morning to check on his lung development. Pending those results, the c-section is scheduled for Friday at 3:30. We look forward to meeting him very soon!
